Ashley was born February 10 of 1987 in San Clemente California. As a young girl she was surfing when she first started before making the move to Hawaii. In the midst of her 6th birthday she took home a prize in a surf competition using a broken board which she discovered in a trash can outside of her house. She began surfing in the age of five and, by age 6 had won the first competition. By 7 she had a sponsorship. The city she was born in was San Clemente in California. After that, she moved to Hawaii.
